You May Already Be Experiencing Signs That You Need a New Prescription
When you have constant headaches or trouble reading your screen, your eyes may be telling you that you are overdue for your next exam at Pearl Street Eye. Some of the main signs that you need to update your vision prescription include:
See How Astigmatism Affects the Eye
Different Types of Worsening Vision And How We Treat Them
What If I Have Myopia or Hyperopia?
Patients with near-sightedness or far-sightedness alone typically have the simplest vision correction options. If you have myopia or hyperopia, we can improve your vision with traditional contacts or glasses.
For those with stable prescriptions, LASIK may be an option. Our optometrists and ophthalmologist can guide you through your eye care options so that you can decide which is best for you.
What If I Have Astigmatism?
If you have astigmatism, then your case may be a bit more complex. Still, we can account for the curvature in your eye using contacts or glasses with special cylindrical lenses.
For some patients, refractive surgery like LASIK is also an effective way to improve their eyesight. Dr. Coco performs this procedure, and can determine if you're a good candidate.
What If I Have Presbyopia?
With presbyopia, your vision worsens due to aging and a decrease in lens elasticity. Presbyopia will make it harder to see objects located close to you. This is why so many adults need reading glasses as they reach middle age or their senior years.
Fortunately, our eye doctors can treat presbyopia with a pair of glasses or contact lenses customized to fit your prescription. Even if you do not notice changes in your vision, it's important to visit us as you age, because you may be more likely to experience eye diseases like glaucoma.

The Importance of Eye Exams
For Children
Changes in eyesight can manifest differently in kids. Children may have trouble paying attention, or complain of headaches. Some children may seem to have trouble in school, when really, they just need a pair of glasses.
It can be tricky to know when children are experiencing worsening vision. Fortunately, you can prevent this problem by knowing the signs — and visiting us for regular eye exams.
You can trust our friendly team to make your family feel welcomed and well taken care of during each visit.
"Excellent clinic for children." Why Boulder, CO, Trusts Us to Care for Their Families
Excellent clinic for children.
We have twins with autism which can make medical appointments challenging. Our boys were nervous but the nurses and doctor were supportive and flexible.
They all really went above and beyond to help our boys. Our doctor discussed the plan of care for our boys and answered all of our questions.
They are affiliated with Children’s. Their clinic is close to home, easy front row parking, a children’s took care of all the paperwork. 10/10.
I love Pearl St Eye and its staff. They are incredibly kind and courteous and do everything to make their patients feel comfortable, and to help them receive the glasses most suitable to them. I went to Pearl St Eye very soon before deployment looking for a good pair of glasses that would also be sturdy and last me a while. In addition, I needed an extra pair which I could to take into the field and never have to worry about breaking. The specialists at Pearl made sure I got everything I needed and more. I've continued to rely on them even after having made my jump across the pond and will likely go back to Pearl after I finish up my tour to talk about PRK, and my options regarding correcting my vision.

Which Option Is Better Contact Lenses or Glasses?
There is no one-size-fits all answer. Generally, the decision to choose contacts or glasses will depend on a few factors, like:
Want Clear Vision Without Corrective Lenses? We Offer Laser Eye Surgery Treatments
If you have a stable vision prescription, you may be a candidate for LASIK and PRK.
LASIK, or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusisis, is a type of laser eye surgery that can correct your vision for years to come by changing the shape of your cornea.
PRK, or photorefractive keratectomy, is a similar surgery that corrects refractive errors in your eye.
Whether you are near-sighted, far-sighted, or have astigmatism, it is possible that you may be able to ditch your glasses and contacts in favor of laser vision correction.
We can assess your options at our Boulder office and possibly plan your laser eye treatment with Dr. Coco.
